Important News from our Scout Chaplain Dated March 25, 2017
I have some exciting news for everyone. Beginning July 1st I will be Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul parish and school in San Diego. There will be a lot of things I need to do in order to prepare for this new role, and a lot of things I will be learning along the way. For this, and other reasons, I felt it best to ask the Bishop to appoint a new Scout Chaplain.
The Bishop has appointed Deacon Bob Holgren, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, to be the next Scout Chaplain, beginning April 1st, 2017. I could not be happier about the selection. I believe Deacon Bob is perfect for the position and brings a strong background in business administration and finances. Most of all, he has a servants heart like Jesus, he loves Jesus, and he loves our Catholic Faith. His son is currently a seminarian for San Diego Diocese, so please keep him in your prayers!
To help with the transition, I will be present through the June 1st Emblems Mass and Ceremony with Bishop McElroy. We will send out a short Bio of Deacon Bob soon!
In the mean time, I invite you to come meet Deacon Bob at any of the upcoming events!
April 29th - Scout Day at the Seminary May 20th - CCS Meeting and Emblems Boards of Review June 1st - Religious Emblems Mass with Bishop McElroy
I hope to see you all at one of these events. God Bless you!

Response to BSA Statement From The National Committee on Scouting Dated 2/1/2017
“The National Catholic Committee on Scouting is thoughtfully and prayerfully reviewing the statement on January 31, 2017 from the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts of America has assured its faith-based organization chartered partners that, as in the past, they will be able to organize their Packs, Troops, Crews, Sea Scouts Ships, and Explorer Posts in a way completely consistent with their religious beliefs."
